How your HIGUA towel is made

How your HIGUA towel is made

We all love a good beach day, a refreshing dip in the ocean or pool, and the feeling of a soft, absorbent and are towel. But what it that towel could also tell story of environmental responsibility and a stand against fast fashion? At HIGUA, we believe it can.

You might be surprised to learn that your vibrant, soft, and durable HIGUA waffle microfiber towel began its life as something far less glamorous: 28 recycled plastic bottles!

The Journey: From Waste to Art

  1. Collection & Sorting: Plastic bottles (primarily PET, the type used for drinks) are collected from recycling streams.
  2. Cleaning & Shredding: These bottles are then cleaned thoroughly and shredded into small flakes.
  3. Melting & Spinning: The plastic flakes are melted down and extruded into fine fibers, which are then spun into a strong, durable yarn.
  4.  Weaving & Crafting: This recycled yarn, is then woven into our unique waffle-weave microfiber fabric, creating the reversible, beautifully patterned towel you know and love.

The result? A high-performance towel that’s not only highly absorbent, soft, and built to last, but also significantly reduces plastic waste .

Why Does This Matter? The HIGUA Commitment to Sustainability

This innovative material choice is at the heart of HIGUA's commitment to the environment and our fight against the damaging effects of fast fashion and pollution.

  • Diverting Plastic from Landfills and Oceans: Every HIGUA towel saves 28 plastic bottles from ending up in landfills, or worse, polluting our precious oceans and natural landscapes. This directly addresses the global plastic crisis and reduces the demand for new, virgin plastics derived from fuels.

  • Reducing resource consumption: creating fabrics from recycled materials requires significantly less energy and water compared to producing new textiles. This means a smaller carbon footprint and a more sustainable manufacturing process.

  • Combating Fast Fashion: Fast fashion thrives on cheap, disposable clothing made from virgin materials, often in unethical conditions. This leads to massive waste, pollution, and a culture of constant consumption. By choosing durable, high-quality items made from recycled materials, you’re actively resisting this cycle.

Be Part of the Solution

When you choose a HIGUA towel, you're not just getting a beautiful and functional product; you're making a conscious choice to support sustainable practices. You're saying no to unnecessary waste and yes to innovation that protects our planet.

So, next time you unfurl your HIGUA towel on the sand, by the pool, or even for a workout, remember the journey it took and feel good knowing you're drying off with a purpose.
